Career counseling for Pakistani youth

Career Counseling is a process that will help you to know and understand yourself and the world of work in order to make career, educational, and life decisions.

The Problem Statment:

In Pakistan, students tend to face a number of difficulties while choosing a career path. That is largely because of the lack of availability of career counselors in different institutes and colleges. Students in Pakistan tend to make decisions based on what their peers and elders recommend which makes them confuse and puts them in a dilemma where they cannot think for themselves anymore. This leads towards students picking the wrong career path and instead of feeling inspired and motivated towards their jobs or majors, rather they face difficulties and complications in comprehending the field that they have picked for themselves, which not only demotivates them but, also extinguishes the fire of progression in them.

Here is the pitch of my problem statement:

Almost every student is confused about choosing the right Direction is there no Career counseling NGOs in Pakistan we need NGOs to clarify the future of our youth.

CASE STUDY:

Time has changed but our society does not accept change easily.

One of the example is a lot of students are not aware of the future horizon.

My friend, Ali was a brilliant student, very sharp in information technology, he was unaware about the future of IT.

His mindset was that only physics, chemistry, etc students are considered highly educated and get well-paid jobs.

But time was changing, IT took everything in its control and although he was best and fit for IT he chose other fields where he have no interest and hence stuck in wrong decision.

If he had proper counseling he must have been a shining star.

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.” — Steve Jobs

The Government should take serious steps in this regard and hire professional career counselors in schools and colleges for the right guidance of students and to save them from future failure and depression, they should also provide first-hand information to students regarding scholarships and programs who are interested in going abroad for higher studies, and most importantly people themselves should not be ashamed or feel any kind of hesitation in taking help from a career counselor because when a person can take help from a counselor in finding a suitable job for himself then a 7th grader should not feel ashamed of taking someone’s help who has a better decision making ability and is much more experienced than he is.
